Roman gold treasure turns out to be fake money TV show

Two Britons who thought they had found a Roman treasure look ugly on their noses.

Andy Sampson and Paul Adams could not get their luck when they did the find on a field. They had gone there looking for details with a metal detector. Sampson said that his friend 'screamed, jumped and danced' with joy when he discovered the 'treasure.' It may have been worth a quarter of a million pounds (over 284,000 euros), they thought.

Sampson had already figured out how the money could be spent: a new car, paying off his mortgage and a dream trip suddenly seemed to be within reach. A neighbor quickly put an end to those daydreams. He picked up the coins and immediately said: 'They are not real. Something is wrong with them. '

After some detective work, the field was used for recordings of the Detectorists series. The so-called 'Roman gold' was put in the ground by the television makers. The men acknowledged that they were very disappointed, but are still on the road with their metal detector.
