Riots in Madrid after dead street vendor

In riots in the center of Madrid ten police officers were injured and six arrests were made.

The riots started with a disturbance about the death of a 35-year-old Senegalese street vendor while the municipal police were in action against illegal street vendors.

The Senegalese succumbed to cardiac arrest. Rioters thought that the man was being chased by the police and that he would therefore have died. The police are fighting that.

Throughout the old district of Lavapiés, officers were pelted and attacked by groups of men.
