Riots in French city after runner kills motorist

The French government has called for calm after riots broke out in the city of Nantes.

Demonstrators set fire to cars and threw Molotov cocktails at the police. He sent reinforcements to the city, after which the rest returned from Tuesday to Wednesday in the night.

The disturbances broke out after a man was killed when he tried to avoid a police check. The motorist wanted to drive away and hit an agent. Then another agent opened fire, says a source within the police. The driver died as a result.

According to the police source, research is being done into the agent's decision to shoot the motorist.
