Right in center right after Swedens election

The alliance of center-right parties may try to form a government after the Swedish elections.

Kristersson awaits a big challenge, as the elections last month ended in a stalemate. His alliance got exactly one seat less than the 'red-green' party coalition of outgoing Prime Minister Stefan Löfven, who does not have a parliamentary majority. None of the blocks wants to cooperate with the right-wing populist Sweden Democrats (SD), who can be decisive with their 62 seats.

President Andreas Norlen said, according to Swedish media, Kristersson was the first to try to form a government, although his coalition took fewer seats than Löfven's. Norlen motivated his decision by pointing out that Kristersson was part of the parliamentary majority that voted in favor of the prime minister last week.
