Resumption of peace talks on Syria

The United Nations on Thursday in Geneva hosted peace talks on the civil war in Syria.

The parties are the same, but the political context has changed. The United States have a new leader. In Turkey, the situation is different since the failed coup in July. President Assad of Syria, with help from Russia and Iran, who both sit down, the battlefield given a new look. Biggest change was the reconquest of Aleppo on the rebels.

The demands of the Syrian parties are unchanged. While there is a cease-fire is valid, will be in Switzerland, the rebels ask for the release of prisoners and, most important, change in the political situation: Assad must go.
