Research on burka-column Boris Johnson

The British Conservatives are investigating remarks by party promoter Boris Johnson.

Johnson wrote in an article not to be in favor of a burqa ban, but he did scoff at the garment. He is now accused of not adhering to the code of conduct of the government party. A committee has to deal with its comments. The former mayor of London can in the last case be removed from the party.

Within opposition party Labor seems not to be mourned for the internal turmoil at the rival Conservative Party. 'Whether Boris is guilty, or the Tories tolerate Islamophobia,' concluded a source from the Social Democratic camp. The police had already indicated that they did not regard Johnson's remarks as punishable.

The politician stepped up as minister last month. He felt that the Brexit plans of Prime Minister Theresa May did not go far enough.
