Regime recaptures village near Aleppo

The Syrian army has driven the group Islamic State with the help of allies from the village of Soran east of Aleppo.

Turkey has long supported opponents of Assad. But it continued its warplanes, tanks and special forces since last summer primarily to keep away from IS terrorists from its border and prevent Kurdish groups could forge their territories at the border.

After the rebels a cease-fire mediated by them controlled part of Aleppo had to retire in December, Turkey and Assad's ally Russia. Their extension will be further discussed Monday in Kazakhstan. Turkish viepremier Mehmet Simsek said last week that it was no longer realistic to demand that a solution is found to the conflict in Syria without Assad.
