Red Cross gets employees back from Yemen

For safety reasons, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has brought back 71 employees from Yemen.

In Yemen there has been a bloody conflict that has killed at least 10,000 people. According to the aid organization, the departure of the employees has major consequences for a number of humanitarian activities. This includes medical assistance, visits to prisoners, clean water projects and food aid.

The ICRC asks all parties involved in the conflict to come up with 'concrete' guarantees so that it can remain active in the country. 'The safety of our employees, who are intimidated by parties in the conflict, is an absolute condition for our presence and work in Yemen. '
