Red Cross employee in Nigeria killed

An employee of the International Red Cross was murdered in Nigeria, half a year after she and two other colleagues had been kidnapped by an armed group.

She was active as a nurse in a health center in Rann in the northeast of Nigeria when she was kidnapped with the two other aid workers. The Red Cross does not comment on the armed group that kidnapped the aid workers and the circumstances under which the employee was murdered. The organization has called on the kidnappers to release the two other aid workers as quickly as possible.

In March this year, MSF ended the work in Rann after a fatal attack supposedly committed by the Islamic terror group Boko Haram. As a result, eleven people died, including three care providers.
