Ramaphosa brings Nene back to Finance

South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has brought Nhlanhla Nene back as Minister of Finance.

Ramaphosa introduced a number of new faces in his cabinet Monday evening and said goodbye to some ministers who were affiliated with Zuma. 'In coming up with these changes, I have carefully considered the balance between the need for continuity and stability and the need for innovation, economic recovery and accelerated conversion', he said in a short speech.

David Mabuza, deputy leader of government party ANC, becomes vice president. Ramaphosa held that position until Zuma finally resigned after a long insistence. The appointment of Nene, who succeeds Malusi Gigaba, is probably widely acclaimed. The appointment of Mabuza as a second man is more sensitive. He has been accused of being involved in tinkering with tenders by the government and he would have silenced opponents, but denied everything.
