Raids on pro-Kurdish party in Istanbul

The Turkish police in Istanbul Friday raided an office of the pro-Kurdish party HDP and has thereby been arrested six people.


         The police had received a tip that a firearm was used in the HDP-office is in a murder in June 2015, allegedly committed by PKK members.
According to Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the HDP, in parliamentary seats to the third party in the country, affiliated to the PKK. The PKK has been fighting for decades for Kurdish autonomy in southeastern Turkey and by Turkey, the US and the EU as a terrorist movement. The HDP distances itself from violence and seeks a peaceful solution to the conflict.
