President Kazakhstan will stop

The President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazerbayev, has announced his immediate retirement on television.

He ruled as an exclusive ruler and, according to observers, the country did not have free elections. He was re-elected President for six years four years ago and received 98 percent of the votes. He has the title of Leader of the Nation and would become president for life.

Kazakhstan has a little more inhabitants than the Netherlands, but is almost seventy times larger. The country has many natural resources but is suffering from growing economic and social problems.
