Preliminary investigation into violence against Rohingya

The chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court ICC is conducting a preliminary investigation into the violence against the Rohingya.

ICC chief prosecutor Fatou Bensouda states that it is being examined whether there is sufficient land for a full investigation into the alleged deportation of the Muslim minority. Myanmar is not a member of the criminal court itself. Judges of the ICC ruled earlier that research can be done, because neighbor Bangladesh is. Fled Rohingya are in refugee camps there.

International researchers have already concluded that the Rohingya have been expelled with great force. Myanmar soldiers were allegedly guilty of massacres and sexual violence.
