Pregnant women should avoid Latin America

Pregnant women in the coming period should not have to travel to parts of Latin America and the Caribbean.


         The virus, which is transmitted by mosquito bites, is not dangerous for adults. But it could very well lead to birth defects in unborn children.
The warning applies to the CDC for Brazil, Colombia, El Salvador, French Guiana, Guatemala, Haiti, Honduras, Martinique, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Puerto Rico, Suriname and Venezuela.
Symptoms of the virus include fever, rash and joint pain.
