Population is hungry but Mugabe celebrates

While millions of Zimbabweans are threatened by hunger and poverty, President Robert Mugabe celebrated his birthday Saturday.

Mugabe celebrated his 92th birthday (he already lapsed on February 21) with a luxurious mass party on the grounds of the National Monument in the historic city of Great Zimbabwe. For the feast were among other sixty animals slaughtered.

Despite the festive atmosphere, Mugabe could not leave it in an anniversary speech to rail against the West and against homosexuals. After the speech, the president cut a 92 kilo birthday cake.
