Poland to choose new parliament

Poland goes to the polls Sunday to elect a new parliament.

In Poland, the liberal Civic Platform since 2007 to power. Although the economy has grown considerably over the past decade, the omens are bad for the party of Prime Minister Ewa Kopacz. As the presidential election in May was surprisingly won by the conservative Andrzej Duda.

A victory of PiS can have consequences for the European course of Poland. As the eurosceptic Kaczynski feels (66) have little to accommodate Muslims in the predominantly Catholic country. His party wants to allocate more money to support the poor and against early accession to the eurozone.

Kaczynski also seems not going to have to lead to a victory the government itself. He partijloyalist Beata Szydlo (52) put forward as prime minister candidate.
