Plea for the European Criminal Court Syria fighters

Europe must have a special criminal court to prosecute returning Syrians fighters for genocide, for example.

Robertson said Tuesday at a hearing of the organization of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg. He finds a separate tribunal for jihadists from European countries, because existing international courts such as the International Criminal Court (ICC) would not be dissapointed.

During the hearing, CDA Chamberlain Pieter Omtzigt presented a report on the terrorist movement IS and genocide. He looks at the possibilities of prosecuting IS fighters for crimes against humanity and genocide. 'Just as Nazi war criminals are still being prosecuted, that must also apply to IS criminals,' said Omtzigt, who had organized the hearing.
