Pirate raids ship in Gulf of Aden

Naval ships from four different countries have come into action to rescue the crew of a bulk carrier in the Gulf of Aden.

The Indian navy received a distress call and sent two warships towards the vessel. Also Chinese, Pakistani and Italian navy ships tried to intercept the bulk carrier. Meanwhile, the crew had locked themselves in a secure area.

An Indian helicopter flew overnight to the ship to conduct a reconnaissance operations and provide air support. Later arrived eighteen Chinese men to search the bulk carrier. They found no pirates while longer. They had fled. The suspected hijackers were from Somalia.
