Peru ordered arrest ex-president Toledo

A judge in Peru on Thursday (local time) issued an international arrest warrant for former president Alejandro Toledo.

Toledo has 'abused the high office of the presidency to conclude a pact with illegally selling a project for the construction of a highway,' the judge concluded. The international construction company Odebrecht has admitted a bribe is given to, among others, Toledo in exchange for a commission.

Toledo, who was president between 2001 and 2006, denied any involvement last weekend. He was staying at that time in France. His lawyer told local media that he advised his client not to return to Peru.
