Permanent Turkish base near Mosul Iraqi

Turkey will have a permanent military base in the Kurdish north of Iraq.

The base will be in the region of Bashiqa, northeast of the Iraqi city of Mosul. Turks train more than 2,500 peshmerga, members of the Iraqi- Kurdish forces in the ethnically Kurdish northern Iraq. As all 150 Turkish soldiers with more than twenty tanks are sent to Iraq.

The Turkish prime minister Ahmet Davutoglu said in a letter to his Iraqi colleague Haider al-Abadi that Turkey does not do something without the worries of Baghdad are first removed.
