Opposition Nicaragua wants to consult again

Opposition groups in Nicaragua have called on President Daniel Ortega on Friday to return to the negotiating table.

Mediation attempts by the Catholic Church have failed. In an open letter, the opposition, united in the Civil Alliance for Justice and Peace, writes that the church must nevertheless lead the new talks and that foreign powers must join in to guarantee the agreements. The alliance demands an end to the violence, the release of political prisoners and early elections.

The latter seems to be excluded. Last month Ortega said that elections would only create 'instability, insecurity, and make things worse. '
