Opposition leader López leaves prison

The Venezuelan opposition leader Leopoldo López left the prison in Caracas on Saturday.

Since 2014, the opposition leader has issued a four-year sentence for allegedly inducing violence during a protest against the government. Last month he still heard in a video message. López then called out from his cell to rebel the soldiers in his country against the government of President Nicolás Maduro. According to López, the military must take the lead in rebelling against the government that suppresses the Venezuelan people.

Venezuela has been in chaos for months. There have been protests against the left-wing government of Maduro, since the supreme court of the country has put Parliament on a sidewalk. That step was reversed, but there was no end to popular welfare.
