Old top woman Yahoo: Russians behind computer science

Yahoo's former top wife, Marissa Mayer, holds Russians responsible for stealing information from the technology company.

In 2013, cybercriminals gained names, passwords and phone numbers from Yahoo users. Mother company Verizon announced last month that the data loss was likely to hit 3 billion accounts. In 2014, unknowns also estimated data from half a billion accounts.

Mayer went to the Russians with an accusing finger on Wednesday. 'We now know that Russian intelligence officers and government-sponsored hackers are behind extremely complex and advanced attacks on Yahoo systems,' she said.

The former top woman also said that Yahoo could not figure out how cybercriminals penetrated the company's servers in 2013. She said that even a 'robust' digital defense is insufficient to keep government-assisted hackers out of doors.
