Offensive to start West Mosul

The offensive to liberate the western part of Mosul Islamic State began Sunday.

Prior to the offensive were sat leaflets strewn over the city to inform residents that the battle is imminent. Citizens were called to welcome the Iraqi forces and fighters of IS were advised to lay down their arms and surrender.

Mosul was captured by IS extremists in June 2014. It was the largest city that the terrorist group had held in Iraq. After an offensive three months was at IS captured in January the eastern part of Mosul.
