Obama and Bush praise McCain in mourning: Courage, honesty and loyalty

Numerous dignitaries from politics and business have given the last honor to Senator John McCain on Saturday during a memorial service at the Washington National Cathedral in Washington DC.

'He has made us better presidents, just as he has made the Senate better and just like he has made our country better,' said Obama from whom McCain lost the presidential election in 2008.

Obama's predecessor Bush praised McCain for his 'courage, honesty and loyalty. '

McCain died a week ago in Arizona at the age of 81 from the effects of a brain tumor. The Republican was one of Trump's fiercest opponents within the party.

The American president Donald Trump was not invited to the funeral service. He was on the golf course at the time of the service. The former 'running mate' of McCain was not invited.

On Sunday, McCain is buried in Annapolis.
