North and South Korea on Tuesday

North Korea has accepted South Korea's invitation to once again hold diplomatic talks.

On the agenda are improvement of the relationship between the two countries and North Korean participation in the Olympic Winter Games next month in Pyeongchang.

The North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un suggested in his New Year's speech that his country could participate in the Games. He promised a delegation for consultations on this subject, but nothing had been heard from North Korea since Monday. However, in the border town of Panmunjom the direct telephone connection was recently put back into use. The meeting will also take place there.

It is since December 2015 that the two Korean countries officially start the conversation again.
