New members for Chinas powerful police committee

Chinese Communist Party has appointed five new members for the seven-member permanent committee of the Politburo, the most important and powerful governing body.

Xi and Prime Minister Li Keqiang are the two members who remain. Five others were promoted to members of the committee and replaced members retiring. Two party members who are considered as potential successors of Xi are not included.

These are the party leaders of Guangdong and Chongqing provinces. They have become members of the wider police agency that has 25 members.
