NATO chief calls for more defense spending

NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg calls on member states that spend less than 2 percent of their national income on defense to make extra efforts to achieve that goal.

At 10.7 billion euros, the Netherlands remained at 1.35 percent and Germany at 1.23 percent. Italy's spending stagnated at 1.15 percent. Belgium, Spain and Luxembourg were below 1 percent.
