murdered gay magazine editor Bangladesh

An editor of the first magazine for gay, bisexual and transgender people in Bangladesh attacked with knives in an apartment and killed.

Two other people were attacked in the apartment in the capital Dhaka, one of whom is also deceased.

The gay rights activist Julhas Mannan was editor of Rupban, a magazine for transgenders. The victim worked according to friends also for the US development agency USAID, the BBC reported.

The attack comes two days after a university professor in Bangladesh with knives was killed on the street. The attack is attributed to Islamist extremists. Previously, liberal activists, members of minorities or other religious groups targeted.
