Mugabe does not cooperate with departure

Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe opposes attempts to get him to resign.

Mugabe, his wife Grace and at least two prominent allied political allies are allegedly under house arrest in Harare. They apparently demand that the 93-year-old leader be given the opportunity to finish his term of office.

A Catholic priest would mediate between Mugabe and the armed forces, who in fact took power, but denied that there was a coup. The army would like to enable Mugabe, who has been in power for 37 years, to step up in a dignified manner.
