Mountaineers died in Japan

At least three mountaineers have been fatally attacked in Japan.

The accident happened at the more than 2800 meters high mountain Amidadake in Nagano. The newspaper Asahi Shimbun reports that the seven climbers were tied together with ropes for safety reasons. Other climbers warned the authorities when the group fell down.

The police then used a helicopter to evacuate the victims. In the hospital it appeared that two men and a woman had died. On the Amidadake several fatal climbing accidents have occurred in recent years, including through avalanches.
