Moscow wants to block chat app Telegram

Russia wants to block the popular counterpart of WhatsApp.

After months of battle with Telegram, he started a lawsuit to block the chat app on Russian networks. Russia wants its security services to be able to decipher the messages. The characteristic feature of Telegram messages is that they are destroyed.

Telegram previously ignored a ruling by the Russian Supreme Court of Justice, who acknowledged that the makers provide their data to the security service FSB, the successor of the KGB.

According to Telegram, it is not technically possible to transfer its encryption keys. These are not centrally stored anywhere and renewed every ten minutes. According to Telegram's lawyer, the FSB's wish runs counter to the essence of the constitution and there is no legal basis for the intervention.
