More than a thousand dead in East Ghouta

Since the start of the Syrian army's offensive in mid-February in East Ghouta, more than a thousand deaths have occurred.

East Ghouta near Damascus is one of the last areas in the hands of the rebels. Over the past three weeks, the region has been faced with the heaviest attacks by the Syrian army since the beginning of the civil war some seven years ago.

'Every day we hear more hopelessness, while our colleagues reach the limits of what people can handle,' says Meinie Nicolai, general manager of AzG.
