More than 30 killed Papua earthquake

Due to a major earthquake in Papua New Guinea, at least 30 people were killed according to local media.

Especially in the interior, which is difficult to access, many fatalities have been reported. Several houses have been destroyed and in many places communication and power lines have failed. The quake with a force of 7.5 was also felt on the other half of the divided island, in the Indonesian province of Papua. Only a few buildings had suffered damage there.

According to the Post Courier, at least thirteen people were killed in the provincial capital Mendi alone. There were at least eighteen deaths in the Kutubu and Bosave districts.
