More than 180 missing after accident ferry Tobameer

On the ferry that capsized on the Tobameer in North Sumatra on Monday, many more passengers were hitherto assumed.

The ship ran into problems when it was on its way from Simanindo to Tigaras in bad weather. The circumstances make it more difficult to search for drowning people, said a spokesperson for the Indonesian emergency response service. So far, eighteen survivors have been found and two seem to have been recovered.

Danau Toba is the largest volcanic crater lake in the world, of about 100 by 31 kilometers. The area is popular with tourists. Many Indonesian families celebrated the Sugar Festival on the Samosir Peninsula in recent days.
