More demand for pepper spray in Germany

After the events around the turn of the year in Cologne, the demand for self-defense pepper spray and other resources increased significantly.

Also in 2015, demand, partly due to the events in Paris, though increasing. Meinhard estimates that sales in that year at least doubled compared with a year earlier.
The German newspaper Die Welt reported Friday that it is even sold in a shop in Cologne pepper spray. It is not allowed to use the agent. It may be used for defense against aggressive animals alone. People who feel threatened, may be a special device to help themselves serving as an alarm. A special lamp is available that can deter attackers.
The assaults and robberies in Cologne and other German cities have led to heated debates over refugee policy in Germany.
