Miners in gold mine saved South Africa

The more than nine hundred miners who were stuck in a gold mine in the Free State province in South Africa since Thursday afternoon have been rescued.

The miners could not back up because the elevators in the mine of operator Sibanye-Stillwater were not functioning because of a power outage. In the Beatrix mine, which is located about 240 kilometers from Johannesburg, gold is mined at a depth of 700 meters and a depth of 2200 meters.
