Mice eat themselves full of rupees

Ignoring overdue maintenance has caused the State Bank of India a loss of EUR 15,000.

It took three weeks before a technician was sent to a broken cash machine in the town of Tinsukia. He made a remarkable discovery: in those days mice had processed almost half of the bills into pulp. Just 1.25 million rupees had been gnawed by the vermin, while some 1.7 million could still be saved.

The police are not going to interfere with the case, because no crime has taken place: 'If the machine had been sabotaged by squeegees that had damaged the notes, there would have been a role for us. But in this case they were only naughty mice. '
