Mayor NYC resigns on re-election

The Democrat De Blasio left the reins of billionaire Michael Bloomberg in 2014, who spent twelve years in the town hall. The current mayor probably does not have to hope for such a long term of office. Electors in New York decided earlier in a referendum that elected directors should serve a maximum of two terms.

That explains why Blasio is relatively unhindered on victory. Although, according to the New York Times, several known politicians were ace on their job, they decided to wait until 2021. Then the mayor must step up because he can not be re-elected second time.

The biggest rival of De Blasio is therefore a regional politician, Nicole Malliotakis. She is currently in the parliament of the state of New York. The chance that the Republican Malliotakis may call the new mayor is short, partly because the city is a democrat's bulwark.

A survey showed that at the beginning of October Malliotakis can count on the support of about 17 percent of the voters. About 60 percent of respondents supported De Blasio, who has already won the pre-election of his party effortlessly. Other candidates, such as former policeman Bo Dietl (6 percent), were in great hurts.
