Man shoots passersby in Italy

The Italian police arrested a man suspected of shooting from a car on passersby in the central Italian city of Macerata.

Italian media report that among the wounded are African migrants. The shooter would have specifically targeted black people.

After the shooting incidents, the mayor of the city, Romano Carancini, called on the citizens not to leave their homes. The newspaper Corriere della Sera reports that the shelling may be related to the murder of an 18-year-old Italian a few days ago. A Nigerian migrant was arrested during the investigation into her death.
