Major police action against Armenian mafia in Spain: more than 100 arrests

The Spanish police have made more than one hundred arrests in a major action against the Armenian mafia.

According to Europol, who was involved in the operation, many suspects maintained close contacts with football, tennis, beach volleyball, basketball and ice hockey players. It is estimated that twenty players were bribed to influence the outcome of a match.

More than a thousand agents were involved in the action last week. 129 suspects have been arrested and 74 houses in various Spanish cities have been searched. The police started investigating the criminal group in 2016, which is considered one of the largest in Europe.
