Lugubere turn Day of the Wolf: 40 sheep killed by wolf

Calculated on the 'Day of the Wolf', such a predator probably caused a slaughter under sheep in the German town of Bad Wildbad (Black Forest).

'It was a horrible sight', commented Anette Wohlfarth, director of the sheep breeders' association in Baden-Württemberg, after visiting the fenced meadow where the wolf used to live. Research must show whether a wolf is indeed the perpetrator. In that case, the owner of the herd, who had left the barn only a few days ago, could receive compensation.

That the wolf, a protected species in Germany, has also established itself in this federal state, had already been proven. Since 2015 four copies have been found. Two were run over, one possibly died a natural death and one was bullied out of a lake with bullets in the body.
