Liberal economist wins Peru election

The liberal economist Pedro Pablo Kuczynski has narrowly won the presidential elections in Peru.

Big is not its backlog. After Wednesday 99 percent of the votes had been counted, Kuczynski seemed to come out as the winner with only a percentage of around 50.1 or 50.2 percent of the vote.

The 77-year-old Kuczynski was previously Prime Minister in the country of over 30 million inhabitants. He owes his victory not primarily to its popularity and economic reform plans. Many left-wing voters who abhor his plans, chose him because they no daughter of the autocrat Alberto Fujimori like as head of state. Alberto Fujimori (77) ruled the country with an iron fist from 1990 to 2000.
