Less kiloknallers on the shelf

The number of kilograms, meat offers in supermarkets without an animal welfare mark, has dropped by 10 percent in the past six months.

Although that is good news, the animal welfare organization points out that more than half of the offers are still meat without a quality mark. 'By often bringing industrial meat on the market, supers ensure that their customers mainly buy a lot of animal suffering,' says Wakker Dier.

According to the organization, Albert Heijn has by far the most unbranded kilo lampers, followed by EMTÉ, DEEN and Hoogvliet. Wakker Dier has been campaigning for years against the cheap, quality-free meat in supermarket folders.
