Leaders in jubilation for historical encounter

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is going to the United States for a talk with Trump next month, prior to his meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

'I agree with President Trump that this is the result of the high pressure on North Korea by Japan, the United States, South Korea and the international community,' said Abe according to The Japan Times after a telephone conversation with Washington.

China has also responded positively to the news that the US President and the North Korean leader want to meet. Beijing 'welcomes positive signals from the US and North Korea,' the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs said. China is seen as an ally of North Korea. It also reacted positively earlier when North and South Korea announced that a top of their leaders would be held.
