Largest Turkish mosque put into use

The largest mosque in Turkey, with room for 63,000 believers, was taken into use on Thursday.

Ergin Külünk, the chairman of the cultural service that supervised construction and co-financed, announced this. The official opening is at a later date, in the presence of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The Çamlıca mosque, which has a dome height of 72 meters and six minarets, has been working for six years. The accommodation has a total area of ​​15,000 square meters and includes, besides the prayer house, a museum, library, conference room and art gallery.
