Large prison outbreak in Brazil

More than 100 prisoners have escaped from a prison in the Brazilian state of Paraiba.

The attackers apparently tried to free four criminals. They were behind the bars because of a series of robberies on cash transfers and ATMs, say sources within the police against news site G1. In the chaos, however, many other prisoners could also take their legs. To date, at least 33 fugitives have been overtaken.

In the prison of João Pessoa, 680 criminals were detained at the time of the outbreak. The institution is actually built for a maximum of 660 prisoners.
