Large fire at Ritz Paris

A large fire broke out Tuesday in the famous Hotel Ritz in Paris.

According to the fire department, there are no victims. The hotel has been closed since August 2012 for a major renovation. It would open in March.

Sixty firefighters fight the fire in the prestigious building on the Place Vendome in the center of the French capital.

Egyptian billionaire Mohamed al Fayed is the current owner. The hotel was in the late nineteenth century by Swiss hotelier César Ritz and Auguste Escoffier cook.
