Lab manipulated over 10,000 tests

A forensic laboratory in the English city of Manchester may have penalized more than 10,000 cases by manipulating data.

Three quarters of the cases of 42 different police organizations concerned drug trafficking. For the time being there are no consequences for rape, violence or murder cases, said the organization of police commanders against the ITV channel.

After new tests, two cases against people who have been dismissed under the influence of drugs have been dismissed and the court of appeal must again consider two fatal traffic accidents. Fifty cases have expired because there were no more samples to test again.

Two employees of the lab have been arrested and five others have been questioned about the possible manipulation. The first two also worked in a different laboratory, where a study is now also being carried out into possible influences of test results.
