Kouwenhoven breaks leg, case postponed

The handling of the extradition request for Guus Kouwenhoven (75) has been postponed again.

The businessman still has to serve a nineteen-year prison sentence in the Netherlands because of illegal arms trade and complicity in war crimes in Liberia and Guinea. The handling of his case has been repeatedly postponed. On 25 May, the court will consider the extradition request again, the newspaper reports.

Kouwenhoven slipped last week and broke his leg. The judge still asked why he could not be present in a wheelchair at the session. The lawyer of the Dutchman argued that the situation of his client made that impossible.
